My name is Jennifer Rose Devine (nee Thurston), and I am an accountant who likes to do crafty things. I live with my husband Adam and 2 chickens, Margot and Georgina, in Southampton, UK.

The Site
I wanted to call my website Xtreme-Knitting in tribute to other ridiculous extreme sports I've seen, like ironing and wheel barrowing! I started the site in May 2003 because knitting had become my main hobby but none of my friends knitted, and I wanted to talk to other people about it, see things other people had made, and all that kind of thing...and since I didn't have it in "real life" I made this site. It has been worth it.
There was originally more knitting on here, but I sadly don't have the time I used to when I was a student! I also like sewing, beading, cooking, etc and all of those feature on here as well.
My Knitting
I learnt to knit when I was about 16 because I wanted to knit my then boyfriend a scarf for Christmas. I mostly taught myself from books, and my mum helped me a bit.
My favourite yarn company is Rowan, I made a pledge to try and use more of other companies yarns, but since the best range in the shops here is Rowan, I keep finding myself coming back to them! I don't mind too much, since I love their yarns.
After a few years of knitting other people's patterns I've now become a fan of designing my own, you can find them on this site.
I realised quite early on that I am The Loosest Knitter The World Has Ever Seen. I ALWAYS have to go down 3 needle sizes to get the correct tension, I'm not sure why.
