Cotton for a Cushion!

I was given Erika Knight Simple Crochet for Christmas (which I love looking at), and the first thing I want to make is the Round Cushion. It looks pretty easy, which is good for me as I'm kind of a beginner crocheter. Anyway, I was going to buy yarn to make it, but I thought since it's a cushion tension isn't important, and then I had the brainwave (well I thought so!) to use up all my cotton leftovers to make it. I have a carrier bag full of leftovers and scraps, so I dug through it and here is all the 100% cotton yarn I possess:
There was also a little bit of denim, but I don't want to use that as the colour might run, and also 2 small bits of Rowan All Seasons Cotton, but that's chunkier than all this stuff. It's all Rowan 4-ply cotton, apart from the purple ball on the left, which is Handknit DK Cotton, and the grey ball next to it which is Cotton Glace.
I haven't started yet, but I think I will sometime soon - I love the idea of using up lots of scraps that were just sitting in a bag! Luckily most of the colours look good together too, I guess I have predictable taste!
The cushion in the book is one colour, but she has a picture of a version with several shades of green, with just random stripey bits of each colour, so that's the effect I'll be going for.
Hooray! I feel quite inspired again now :)

Hey Jen, I'll bet your cushions will look great with those colourful yarns. I had the same thought of using up scraps and oddballs, so I knitted my first afghan square few days ago :-) I plan on making cushion covers too!

i love the simple crochet book! it's what got me started with crochet. your cushion is going to be lovely with those colours.

hello! Fantastic idea about the cushion, i made it and its really fun, can't wait to see it. By the way some rather good news, i found the instruction video for the knitting machine, not only that I found some other rather handy bits and peices to get you started, and some punchcards. Hope the job hunting is going well.
