Pink Sleeves

February 25, 2005

This week's been pretty busy - but I've got something to show - the sleeves for Sis:

It's fantatic to be knitting with Big Wool - I can knit for only a few hours and have entire sleeves to show, making me look far more industrious than I really am!
This weekend I'm going to my parents, as Adam is galivanting around Germany! So hopefully that will give me lots of knitting time. I can get excited about holidays too though, as we booked flights to Scandinavia for this summer - I CAN'T WAIT! We have 17 days to cram in as much between Helsinki and Oslo as we can.
Oooh also I sold my phone on ebay for it's Buy It Now price (fantastic!) so if I get a chance maybe I'll buy some yarn this weekend too :)
Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Cotton for a Cushion!

February 21, 2005

I was given Erika Knight Simple Crochet for Christmas (which I love looking at), and the first thing I want to make is the Round Cushion. It looks pretty easy, which is good for me as I'm kind of a beginner crocheter. Anyway, I was going to buy yarn to make it, but I thought since it's a cushion tension isn't important, and then I had the brainwave (well I thought so!) to use up all my cotton leftovers to make it. I have a carrier bag full of leftovers and scraps, so I dug through it and here is all the 100% cotton yarn I possess:

There was also a little bit of denim, but I don't want to use that as the colour might run, and also 2 small bits of Rowan All Seasons Cotton, but that's chunkier than all this stuff. It's all Rowan 4-ply cotton, apart from the purple ball on the left, which is Handknit DK Cotton, and the grey ball next to it which is Cotton Glace.
I haven't started yet, but I think I will sometime soon - I love the idea of using up lots of scraps that were just sitting in a bag! Luckily most of the colours look good together too, I guess I have predictable taste!
The cushion in the book is one colour, but she has a picture of a version with several shades of green, with just random stripey bits of each colour, so that's the effect I'll be going for.
Hooray! I feel quite inspired again now :)

My new knitting inspiration - Sis!

February 18, 2005

I was thinking of ways to remotivate myself without spending lots of money on yarn (although obviously that's what I actually want to do), and remembered my lovely pink Rowan Big Wool. I bought it on sale and finally decided to make Sis from Big Just Got Bigger....and suddenly I just felt like knitting again! So I started just now. It has lovely flowery crochet borders, and I love crochet too at the moment, so it's ALL GOOD!

Here's the beginnings of sis (I started with a sleeve):

And here's a close-up of the lovely little flowers (actually they're quite big! After making Rosa I forgot how quick other yarns can be to work with!):

I got a new phone as an upgrade on my contract and decided that it's too fancy for me (I just like it to make calls, a camera is not at all necessary when I have a perfectly good digital camera), so I'm selling it on ebay.....if I get lots of money for it then I can buy more yarn to keep myself motivated - fingers crossed for me!

Monstrous Slackness

February 16, 2005

I've been feeling unwell (cough and cold, hardly serious but it has made me very demotivated to do anything at all!), but now I'm feeling a lot better after sleeping for a couple of days, so hello!
I haven't knitted a single stitch since I finished my Magknits project (DAYS ago). I've read lots of times of people being in knitting funks and not wanting to make anything, but I've never really felt that myself, until now. Everything is REALLY uninspiring! I don't want to work on anything I've got going, or anything from my stash either. What's the best way of breaking out of this? Because unless I do this blog will get even more boring (as if weeks of silence weren't enough).
Maybe I just need more vitamins!
I did a small amount of sewing before I got sick, so I hope to have something to show soon on that front.
Sigh, back soon :)

Brand new blog!

February 07, 2005

This time I finally did it - I have redone (almost) my entire site! This took me absolutely bloody ages, and I didn't want to post again until I'd finished.
There is a teeny problem with MT, you get an error message when you leave a comment - but the comment gets posted anyway. I know lots of you have MT and if anyone has a clue how it works and can help me I would be SO SO grateful :)
Anyway, I have finished my Magknits project, and am now having a burst of sewing productivity - nothing finished as of yet, but hopefully there will be things to see next time.
If you notice any problems with my newly done site then please let me know so I can fix them :)
