Pinky and Silkie
October 09, 2005
Wow thanks for the advice on the heels! I'll get them fixed and some tips put on them, I didn't even know you could have such a thing done, but I'm all for repairing rather than throwing out :)
Cheers :)
Here's a real post with pictures!! Adam has got the internet to work wirelessly so I can now use it on my laptop, hurrah! Work is pretty hell like at the moment, I'm out of the house for over 12 hours, and really tired when I get home so there's been no time for crafting of late, but now it's the weekend and I'm relaxing listening to radio 4 and knitting a bit - bliss.
I am working on my second project with some silk yarn made by Jeni, which is the lovliest yarn in terms of softness ever. It is also super pretty, I didn't know silk had such a beautiful sheen. She should have had this off me about a million years ago, but I am a moron and agreed to make too many things at once, sadly this is the one that suffered. I am now making an evening bag with a rose on it, the other project was this scarf:
Here's a close up:
It's long and feels so lovely on the neck. I know I'm biased, cos I made it, but I love it! Hopefully the bag shouldn't take too long Jeni! I'm making that with the yarn doubled for extra strength (although it's quite a little bag, just for a bit of make-up and some keys, you know, so it shouldn't be holding too much weight).
Edited to add:
I thought it would be nice to have some modelled photos of the scarf, so I just took over THIRTY to try and get a good one! Adam (usually so obliging!) is out, so I tried doing them myself. It was really hard - I had no idea! They're still a bit bobbins but my arm was aching, so this is as good as it gets!
Close up around neck:
Full lengther in mirror (I adjusted the hell out of this one - it was pretty dark and probably still is!):
Bye for now!

Thats a really nice scarf!
I love the colour and silk is so beautiful. You can wear it in every occasion, okay a soccergame wouldn't do:-) but it so nice that at the other side of the world people can see what creativity is happening overthere, great!
I just started a weblog: http://waterknitting.blogspot.com/
Its from www.blogger.com So maybe I see you around!
Bye bye

Silk yarn sounds yummy! And it must be warm too. I always take lots of pictures because hey, it's digital, no film wasted.

Like Whitney, I followed the link from knitty.com and have been spellbound, looking at all of the things you've made. I've been crocheting almost as long as you've been knitting and I haven't made half so many things (or maybe I just don't have as much to show for it since they are mostly gifts . . . ). Stellar job!
