Big Long Fluffy Scarf. And fudge.
February 26, 2006
I've finally got round to getting photos of my new scarf - Adam very kindly took them. I asked him what he thought my scarf should be called, and he let his imagination run riot and came up with Big Long Fluffy Scarf.
Edited to add: this scarf is my own "pattern"! I know there's only so much creating you can do with a scarf, but this one is all mine :)
I'm pretty much in love with my new scarf, which is good as it's been totally arctic here lately. It's a very comforting scarf. Anyway, click on the little photo to see more - I'm wearing my new favourite T-shirt in the photos, Adam got it for me for Valentines day and I really love the stripes!
This saturday myself and Adam went to Moreton in Marsh in the Cotswolds to see my parents, who were staying there this weekend. It's a very pretty area but the best thing about going (apart from seeing the parents!) was the fudge shop we found! It's the best fudge ever. EVER!

l-r coffee+walnut, chocolate ginger, chocolate orange and maltesers.
I would be a bad person if I didn't tell you that you can get it here. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Rowan 39
February 20, 2006
Our new router came today - hooray! First proper update in ages...
I'm pretty busy at the moment, concentrating on secret project no. 56987356897, but I did finish a scarf last weekend (I'll show it off next time). I went to get a ball of wool to fringe it, and I picked up the new Rowan while I was there. I didn't look at it first, cos I was in a rush, and I sort of wish I had! You all must know I am a total Rowan addict, I mostly use Rowan yarns, and I have knitted a lot of Rowan patterns over the years - usually when I get a new Rowan mag I want to knit about 10 things in it and usually end up making a couple. But I don't really want to make anything in this one! I don't think it's bad, just not as exciting as usual. Maybe it's because I have lots of ideas of my own and I want to focus on them, I don't know - still I was a bit disappointed.
But instead of picking out the things I thought were poo or boring (I hate it when people do that about my designs!), I thought I'd just say the bits I liked...
I like this KSH cardi thing:

But it's only in one size and I'm kind of small on top so I'm scared if I made it it might swamp me.
I also like this cardi:

But I am not convinced about cotton glace and have no real inclination to start another fine gauge project.
My favourite thing is these wrist warmers, which aren't a pattern, just something you can buy in a shop!

I like them a lot.
I also really liked the denim section, I really want to bleach some denim now :) So there's my "review". I suppose in some ways I'm glad I didn't want to drop everything and start one of the projects, thats the last thing I need!
Back next time with the scarf!

Nothing to see here!
February 14, 2006
Edited to add - Happy Valentines day!
I am finally back from all my going away! I don't think I'm going away again for a few months, except on holidays, which of course don't count because they are FUN!
Unfortunately our router is playing up and the new one hasn't come yet, so I'm writing this at work - so no photos for a few days. But since I've basically vanished lately I'm sure it won't make too much difference. I always wish I had more time to devote to this blog and to my hobbies in general.....
I'm abandoning all my current projects to work on a secret project (I know! BORING - I cant show it, you can't see it!), but it's a pretty tight deadline so with any luck I'll have enough other things to talk about in the meantime.
Right, back to work now, I really hope to have some stuff to show soon :)

Back from France!
February 05, 2006
Hi all, and thanks for the comments on the skirt - glad you like it! I always worry when I flagrantly disregard recommendations for a pattern :) but I guess it's ok!
I had an ok time in France - I only saw much of the area at the weekend, as we were working in all daylight hours. We had some really nice meals out in the evenings though, and nice wine - although the French don't really get the concept of vegetarian! I always found something though!
I didn't want to clog up the main page with photos, but if you are interested I put a few from the weekend up here.
The area seemed really nice - I'd like to go back in the summer!
I got a fair bit of knitting done in the evenings as well - it just looks like a big brown splodge but here's my progress on the back of Hawthorn:

It may not look like, but I'm dead proud! It's teeny needles, and I'm always super slow on fine gauge projects. Also I really love the pattern.
Believe it or not, I'm being sent away this week as well (really this is not as fun as it sounds.....) to west Wales this time, so I'll update again this time next week I guess!
