Poo things and good things
March 29, 2006
This week has been not bad and not good, just pretty bleurgh. I have been in college learning about all sorts of fun accountancy things, for the next set of exams, and today we had a 3 hour progress test and it was POO. However I know no one wants to listen to me whinging, so here are things that have cheered me up:
1. The muffins we made at the weekend - using fresh lemons and 70% dark chocolate:

2. My new sparkly shoes, hurrah!

3. Finishing the first secret book jumper, yay! Onto the second, which is very unportable, so.....
4. Ripping my Giotto top to pieces and starting a scarf with it instead:

It's the same pattern as when I made this scarf with Jeni's lovely silk boucle, but adapted for the much larger gauge Giotto. I like the way it shows up the ribbony texture :)
5. Going out for a lovely veggie curry in about 10 minutes, yum yum yum.

The actual truth about my knitting
March 23, 2006
I've been meaning to update my stash and current projects pages for a very long time, but I've finally done it! I only did it because I have literally nothing else to show you, but it was a still a worthy task.
I combined both into one page, since old unfinished projects and stash are pretty much the same thing anyway...it's permanently in the side bar, or click here.
What annoys me about the whole charade is that if I didn't keep starting secret projects which have deadlines I could stop it building up! I AM NOT buying any more yarn until I've finished a substantial amount of projects/used up stash. I should set a specific goal....I'll think about it!
I wish I could show you what I'm knitting now - the book project! It's nearing it's end but is sadly only part of TWO projects I need to make for the book. One day I will have real things to show!

I've gone pink! Plus yummy food...
March 18, 2006
Fed up of boring grey, it's time for pink! Now if only the weather would stop being boring and grey...although I don't want it to be pink, that would be odd.
I'm afraid I'm still slaving away (except it's fun, so it's not so bad!) at my super secret project. Just so you know why I can't show it, it's going to be in a BOOK! This is very exciting for me OF COURSE, so exciting it needs lots of caps :)
But it does mean I'm pretty much dedicated to the one project and so I don't really have anything to show. But just to show I am doing something other than knitting a jumper, have a look at the amazing dinner we made t'other day:

It's black rice salad! I'd never seen black rice before so we went on the manufacturers website to find a recipe. We kind of followed this recipe, but for veg used red pepper, yellow pepper and chesnut mushrooms, also lime juice instead of lemon, and goats cheese instead of feta. It looks pretty similar though! It was REALLY good.
Right, back to the jumper!

Edinburgh Rocks! Hooray for bad puns!
March 15, 2006
I went to Edinburgh for the last 4 days! I forgot to say I was going, because I'm still knitting my secret project, and would have had nothing else to say in the post.
I took a fair few photos, but just wanted to share a few. We had a bloody good time, it snowed on one day, but we were lucky with weather the rest of the time. And on that day I stayed in and knitted, and later we went out for a super meal at a veggie restaurant.
Things we did:
1. Looked at the castle, from every angle (it's on a volcano!):

2. Looked at the Scottish Parliament building (ugly!):

3. Went in the shops for a bit (Easter bunnnies!):

4. Went in a gorgeous old pub that had over 100 whiskies, and tried a few:

We also went to museums, pubs, the old town, the new town, the university area, ALL OVER!
Back soon with crafts!

New shirt, and trousers, and fabric!
March 05, 2006
Today I pulled out my fabric stash to organise it, and find room for some totally unnecessary new arrivals, and I found a shirt that has been languishing there, unfinished, for about 6 months! I finished it in about an hour!! Ridiculous.
Here is ths shirt:
I thought it might look nice with some trousers I made also about 6 months ago and then just kind of forgot to wear (I suppose at least I'm being honest about my lameness!).
Here are the trousers!
Hopefully I'll wear both now! They'll be handy at work. I have a fair bit of fabric at the moment, I keep justifying buying more because it would be quick to use it all up if I ever got round to it.
I still have everything I showed in this post, except item 7, and item 10!
In addition I also now have this (for a top):

And this (for a jacket - it's more grey in real life):

And also (!) black fabric for trousers that didn't photograph very well! I'd better get busy :)
