Off to Morocco!
April 22, 2006
In the end I realised I spend so much time deleting spam comments that I decided not to put up a proper post about the things I've been knitting before I went away! I'd come back, think I was super popular and realise it was all viagra spam!
I'm going to Morocco (all over the place) for 2 weeks, so I'll update again when I return. I'm taking the long forsaken Gemma to knit on any trains or buses, sadly not planes! Comments closed until I get back :)

Out of breath!
April 18, 2006
I know this is not terribly interesting as I've not shown even a teensy peek, but I have literally just finished the second book secret item! The deadline moved forward at the last minute and I had to do SO MUCH bloody knitting to get it done on time, but I did it and now I'm all knitted out! Well not really, but I'm glad to be done on this project and hope to be able to show it off sometime in the future when the book is out.
Anyway, easter! I had a nice easter at home with my family and Adam, it's always nice to go "home"! My Dad made an incredible cake:

It was splendid. We ate a lot of good food all weekend. Also the garden looked pretty and springy:

I love daffodils. Also, before I suddenly turned all my attention to the secret project, I started a new (well really picked up an old) film watching/portable lunch time project - a felted bag in Colinette Skye:

I love the yarn and the colour (honolulu) but stopping it from pooling or striping has been a pain!
I'm going to Morocco on saturday for 2 weeks (!) I'll try and update again before I go :)

Super pink Spring scarf!
April 11, 2006
One of the best things about being in college for the last 3 weeks was the lunch breaks, when I knitted for an hour every day. I couldn't take the secret book project (not very portable) so I did quick fun projects instead! And used yarn from the stash as well, hooray! It was very satisfying!
Well, you've already seen the fluffy bag, and now here's the pink scarf!
Click the photo to see more!
I'm finding real satisfaction in using up yarn that's been sitting around for ages, it's nice to feel reinspired by the stash :)
Also, I think my hair is showing real signs of getting long again in that photo, double hooray!

Fluffy Kitty Bag! And Free Pattern!
April 06, 2006
I have finished the Rio Giotto Scarf, but in the last 2 lunch hours I made something slightly more exciting so I thought I'd share it first!
I ripped (and it was no small effort I tell you, bloody fluff) the Russian Winter hat, and salvaged my 3 balls of Jaeger Fur. I was wondering what to do with it, and suddenly inspiration struck and I was off! I made a little handbag!
And I was also sorting my beads out t'other day, and came across some I had been hoarding for a while, and realised they would go perfectly with the colour of the Fur, so I made bracelets to decorate the bag with. I'm pretty much in love :) It's such a frivolous item, what's not to love?!
So I wrote up the pattern, and it's now here for free, enjoy!
Click on the photo for more pics, and click here for a pdf of the pattern.
Hooray for fluffy girly things :)

Scarftastic!
April 02, 2006
I have been tinkering with the second secret project - first I thought some colours would go together that really didn't (fool) so I had to start again, and now it's moving along just fine. In the meantime, I went to London this weekend for Adam's brother's engagement party (it was lots of fun!), so on the train there and back I worked on my scarf. It's zooming along! I thought I would take a progress pic, and just to add some sense of scale try and have myself in it, even though there was no one to take photos of me.
Here is my first attempt:

Haha, only slightly out of focus then! I know, I'll try one at arms length instead:

As you can see that one really shows how much progress I've made. I guess I'll stick to the old favourite laying it on the floor one!

It's even longer now too! Nearly done :) It's nice to have something to show even though I'm totally prioritising another project!
