Bunny!
May 28, 2006
Thanks so much everyone for your nice comments on the caterpillar - it's blushing! I will reply to comments as soon as I can! The reason I've been absent is because I've been away - first to Snowdonia for a walking weekend, and then away with work all week. Snowdonia was ace! The weather was pretty terrible, but I climbed Snowdon anyway (a hard route as well!) and then we climbed another mountain the next day - exhausting but fun.
Here's the ridge we went along to get to the top (looking from the top):

This was the sunset between mountains:

And the mountain was climbed the second day:

And now for the knitting - I finished the Bunny, and it has been sent to Ireland to Adam's cousin's new baby:
Click to see that photo bigger and one more! The pattern is from Debbie Bliss's book Toy Knits, and was a very good pattern. I'd love to try some more in that book, but I've not really got an excuse.... I'm not sure what I'll be working on mostly next, there's several neglected things I could pick up!

Here comes the Caterpillar!
May 16, 2006
That's right! It's a finished caterpillar! As soon as it was all sewn up and stuffed, I knew it was the right decision to make a caterpillar in the first place. It's been sitting with us while we watch films, and generally keeping us company and being cute. I need to make more stuffed toys! I know I'm biased, but I'm really fond of my new toy!
Here it is - see lots more by clicking on the photo:
It is my own pattern, which will get shared sometime but not just yet. I am going to make another knitted toy next, but one of Debbie Bliss's this time not my own, it's going to be a bunny for Adam's cousin's baby, which is due any day but not born yet!

Fluffy Caterpillar
May 14, 2006
Now, back to the knitting!
I'm using some of the yarn in the stash to make another knitted toy, not more dinosaurs but a fluffy caterpillar this time! I love knitted toys, and like the dinosaurs I've been really enjoying creating another one, I think it's the 3D-ness that I like best! It's still on the needles, I'm going to make it as long as there is enough yarn for:

Another view:

It's so super fluffy and soft, I think it will be very cuddly when it's finished :)
People at work asked what I was knitting at the moment, and when I said a caterpillar they asked who it was for, OF COURSE it's for me! I wonder if I'm a big kid, people email me a lot sending photos of the dinosaurs they have made (which I love to receive) and they always say it was for their son or a friend or something, I hope some adults are making dinos for themselves too though!
Probably a finished caterpillar next time, I grabbed my bag of stuffing over easter when I was at my parents, so it should be finished and stuffed soon!

Back from hols
May 10, 2006
I got back from Morocco on Sunday night, it was a really fabulous holiday, but I've only just got any free time since getting back! It was my birthday yesterday and I had a really lovely evening with Adam, and now I'm finally getting round to blogging. My website vanished while I was away.....it was the guys who host it's fault, and I was cross but now it's back at least!
Here's a quick summary in photos of my holiday:
We went to Casablanca where they have this amazing mosque:

We went to Fes, and looked at the crazy old tanneries in the medina:

We went to Meknes and ate lots of sweeties:

Then into the Middle Atlas mountains where we went hiking in the cedar forests and played with Barbary apes:

Next stop was Marrakesh where we hung out in main square eating yummy food and looking at the spectacle:

Then we took a 3 day trip over the High Atlas and right over to the desert, and rode camels out into the Sahara desert to camp:

We did a lot more too, I think those were the highlights....I also did a teensy bit of knitting on Gemma (obligatory knitting content!). It's rubbish to be back at work! I already can't wait for the next holiday, although I had so many treats on my birthday yesterday I can't complain :)
