Not much more Pinkster
June 27, 2006
I can't quite beleive it's been a whole week since I updated, and I'm only doing it now in a rush! I guess it's good to be busy! I have been knitting, but only on the secret green thing. It's all finished except for a small amount of embroidery. I'll show it soonish I expect :)
As for the Pinkster, it is going along smoothly - here is some progress on one of the fronts:

I have finished almost half of the yarn, so I think it's going ok. The sleeves can just be very little! I'll just do a few rows and then go straight into the sleeve cap.
My hand has been a bit more claw like on this piece, it seems a lot easier on larger pieces of crochet. Well, that's it for today, I will attempt to have something more to show in a more timely manner!

Think Pink!
June 20, 2006
Lots of pink stuff today, making my blog look like a big pink party!
I have decided to call the pink prepster the Pinkster, for obvious reasons :) I have been working away at it, somewhat obsessively, and it's going pretty well:

I forgot to say last time, but I definitely don't have enough yarn to make a whole prepster. I'm not sure how much of it I can make either....I'm going to leave off the pockets, and plan to make little sleeves. I hope I have enough for that! I guess time will tell.
I also picked the next thing I want to make from Happy Hooker - which I also have some yarn for - the Cold Shoulder capelet:

I have some Rowan Kid Soft in the stash, which I think should probably be ok. You can see it at the bottom of the current projects and stash page (link in the sidebar). I was pleased to see the fluffy capelet because I wasn't convinced about using the yarn for the fluffy vintage knits sweater anyway (it would make me far too hot).
Next (and last!) pink thing - me and Adam made some strawberry jam at the weekend:

I've made lots of chutneys before but never jam - it was pretty easy and (not to blow my own trumpet) SO tasty!
Pinkster updates next time, when hopefully I'll have finished the back and have a better idea of what I'll be able to do with the pattern.

More crochet!
June 18, 2006
Firstly, my exams are over and were ok-ish, probably! I've got a month to fret about it before the results anyway.
More importantly, I got a v exciting, large package of new yarn! Carolyn sent me a ridiculously large amount of yarn - thanks Carolyn! There is enough for 2 projects, I have started the first one already, with a reckless disregard for all the other poor neglected current projects.
I bought Debbie Stoller's Stitch and Bitch Crochet book a couple of weeks ago and have been trying to decide what to make from it. I like some of the designs a lot (others not so much! Crochet can be a bit variable!). There was some very nice Knit One Crochet Too cotton which Carolyn sent, and I decided to use it to make the Prepster jacket:

I didn't really like the Prepster jacket at first, because of the way it was dressed up maybe? But then I saw some finished ones on Craftster and realised I like it a lot!
I started it already:

I'm enjoying it so far, but crochet does make my hands hurt a bit. I think if I do more I'll build up super strong crochet muscles and it will all get easier!
Also, I got some scrummy Peruvian highland wool. It feels lovely, and will make a cardi with very cool retro stripes.

Hooray for new yarn! I have also done a bit of work on the secret green thing from last time.
I'll try and update more regularly now my exams are finished and there is no more studying to be done until October :)

Grumpy
June 10, 2006
I know it's been ages.....I just literally couldn't be bothered to update. I have some more professional stage accountancy exams on monday and tuesday, so I've been working for them, although probably not hard enough! I should probably be doing a practice question now! I'm pretty tired of revising though, so I thought I should stick some photos on here :)
Firstly, I promised about a year ago to crochet Kerrie a Coty poncho just like mine. It didn't take a year to make obviously, it took a matter of hours, but I forgot I was doing it and only found it again last week - well done!
Here it is:
Clickety click for more. Although I look kind of fat, please don't say I look pregnant, because I most certainly am not. I'm just wearing low trousers!
I also started something new. I'm on my own in the flat this weekend (probably another reason I'm so whingey) and last night I decided to watch a bit of Pride and Prejudice (the BBC one, it rules) to keep myself company. I accidently watched the entire 4 hour thing and stayed up really late knitting! This is kind of a sneaky peek, maybe I will submit it somewhere, or maybe it'll just appear here in a few weeks, we'll see!

OK I'm off to check the post and get today's 30 seconds of fresh air!
