As if the ripping never occured.....

August 23, 2006

I've regained all the lost knitting on the Tapestry cardigan, ie finished the back for the second time! I couldn't find anywhere to pin it to show it properly, so I ended up pinning it on a box just so you lucky viewers can see it! This resulted in several minutes setting up what turned out a very dull photo, but since I bothered, here it is!

To make up for that poo face boring photo, here's one to show just how shiny and soft and pretty the yarn really is:

I've also started a front. I hope to get it done in the next couple of weeks....maybe that's too optimistic?! I'm looking forward a lot to doing the edgings on it, because the stripes will go vertically instead of horizontally, and I hope it looks cool and not dorky.

I also took some photos of some of the bits I like a lot in Rowan 40:

1 = crazy cool muff
2 = sexy socks (but there is no leg shaping, will they make wrinkles around the ankle like a granny's tights?! And if so I'm not making them!)
3 = lovely crocheted over the top frilly scarf, I want one
4 = gorgeous cardigan which I won't make but like loads anyway
5 = wacky armwarmers, which for some reason appeal to me a lot, but I wouldn't make them in brown, maybe inky blue.

It's a brilliant magazine for accessories, well - it's a brilliant magazine anyway but I'll probably only end up making the accessories. It's nearly bank holiday weekend! It's been such a dismal august we haven't arranged to go anywhere, but I hope to go shopping and get those bloody hooks and eyes to finish the Pinkster, maybe there will be finished stuff next week......

Ooh - cool muff! The tapestry yarn is lovely, I can't wait to see the finished article :)

(I've been lurking on your blog for ages, and have made two of your patterns, and have kept meaning to get in touch to say thanks for designing such cool stuff! :) )

Oh well done Jen! Good luck with the fronts. Are you knitting them both at the same time?

I love number 4, looks great! xx

Looks like I'm going to have to get my hands on the new Rowan somehow! Love that frilly scarf; I've been wanting one for an age.

Regarding the socks wrinking around the ankle: if it's a lace pattern it's usually pretty stretchy, so they may not wrinkle. It's always worth a try! (I've been wanting some zippy knee highs like that, too.)

I can't knit socks. However many instructions and patterns I read, I can't get my head around turning heels. Knit the sexy long socks. On behalf of those of us who.. *sniff*... can't...

(yet) :)

I love that cardigan and those socks from this Rowan! I'm glad you pointed out that wrinkly ankle possibility because I was considering knitting those stockings - the possibilities for wearing them are endless. I don't knit socks but I've seen socks out there with wrinkly ankles and it's always the first thing I see - kinda ruins the sock for me. Probably thanks to all those wrinkly pantyhose commercials (kid embarrasses mother by pointing out wrinkly ankles in public) I use to see as a kid in the 70s. It's marked me for life. Miss Lissa's comment has given me hope, though.

i am doing the anna knee socks from Rowan.....there is no shaping and i cannot figure out how to do it without screwing up the pattern so i've changed from #3s to #2s at the bottom of the calf. Then changed to #1s for the ankle, and i'll go back to #2s for the foot...so far its worked but now i have to turn the heel ( never done it before) hopefully the instructions will talk me thru.
