Presenting my brand new Tapestry cardigan!
November 05, 2006
I bet you were all expecting me to stall for a few more weeks before finishing this cardigan! But hooray, here it is all finished up and photographed for your viewing pleasure!
This is my own design, which I know is not a very complicated design, but nevertheless it's all my own work and I'm proud. I want to try designing something more challenging one of these days, but for this project I didn't feel that the stripy yarn needed any swanky design features as it is swanky all by itself. Here it is:
Click on the photo to see/read more! I will say I'm really pleased with how the edgings turned out. I thought it would look cool to have the stripes going in the other direction on the edgings, and in my opinion it does look cool!
I have just called this cardigan Tapestry for now, but I'd really like to give it a proper name.... If you can think of a name that would suit it please let me know! I'm sure you can all do better than me!

It's beautiful! The buttons work incredibly well with it, and it definitely looks classy and suitable for work, (I seem to remember you posting that you were worried that it might not be), as well as just being a fab cardie.

It's wonderful! Are you planning on offering the pattern in other sizes? I agree, the buttons are fantastic.

It's a great design! I love the contrast of the body with the edgings.

The edging is truly exquisite. I love the 3/4 length sleeves! Well done!

i think it should be named "yummy pink goodness from jen". no? ;)

Lovely! The edging works really well, especially the little ruffles on it. I think it needs something raspberry-ish for a name :)

It's very, very pretty and that Tapestry yarn looks so interesting! I like the edging too!

great job, Jen! You're right, the relatively simple design allows you to show off the pretty yarn very nicely. I like the details - the little peplum, the big buttons, and the sleeve cuffs.

Great job, Jen! I think this is my favorite of your designs. The edging definitely makes the sweater! And great button choice.

hurrah for finishing it - and I love it! The style and shaping are both beautiful, and I wish I could afford enough of that yarn for a cardi myself!
As for names, well, the cardigan reminds me of sugar-dusted deserts; I think it's the shine of the yarn and the reflection of the light. Like raspberry torte, or sugared almonds. Like a little halo of icing sugar. (Oh dear, I've somehow got xmas baking on the brain. Marzipan? Nougart? Chocolate mice?)

I love it, especially the edgings! Great job, wear it proudly!

Ooh, I love the stripes going the opposite directions on the edgings!

Wow! Super cute! I adore that cardie, you're right--a fussy stitch pattern would have warred with those stripes. Good marriage of yarn to design.

Hot design!! Well done.

Yay!! You did great work on this, your design suits the yars perfectly. You definitely should feel proud and happy!
