Onto the Sublimely interesting
January 16, 2007
Luckily this time I have more to show than a sleeve on the floor! Adam is around and allowed me to interrupt his studying to get him to take a photo. So I pinned the sleeve back together and put it on:

I really like it, it's long and flared and it may well have been monumentally boring to knit (and there's still another one to go!) but I am pleased with the shape etc.
I have now begun the back/front (not sure which yet, and they may well end up identical anyway, I love making patterns up on the fly!). After a few more rows of boring st st, I finally got onto the fun part - the twisted st pattern, hooray!

The colour isn't right in that photo, because I fiddled with brightness and contrast in order to make the texture appear best. One day Adam and I will move out of our basement flat into a massive house where I will have a light and airy craft room, and I will take smashingly good photos of my knitting in it. But for now, you get tweaked photos which show colour OR texture (or sometimes neither if I'm honest), but certainly not both. But anyway!
Here are my scribbles on my lap:

The main point of this photo is that the pig on the pen asked to be on my website and I didn't like to say no, he is such a good pig. Also you can see I really am making it all up as I go along!
I don't think I'll get much knitting done over the next few days, I'm going to the theatre tomorrow, out with a friend on Thursday, the cinema on Friday and a meal with Adam on Saturday, and after that I'm going to France with work for 2 weeks (poo face away jobs). I'll update before I go though!

I reckon the sleeve looks gorgeous on! Flared sleeves are wicked - might have to try something like that myself...

I agree, the flared sleeves look great. Love the colour too. Looking forward to seeing it all together!

Looks great - really intrigued to see the final product! I was eyeing the Sublime yarn the other day - it's gorgeously soft.

Oooh flared sleeves! Can't wait to see the finished sweater.
I love seeing other's design notebooks too. :) Mine have tick marks everywhere too!

I love it and it is only the sleeve so far! Your idea reminds me that I also had a similar fancy for just this kind of style when I was younger.

I LOVE that twisted stitch pattern - reminds me of climbing roses and terrible romantic ivy clinging to walls of Yorkshire mansions. Bronte and such. Ever need a name...Let me know! I'm full of rambling nonsense.
Have fun in France - and that pen is fab!

2 weeks in France, even for work, sounds great to me...
Your sweater is adorable so please hurry and make the pattern.

Your design talent is really developing. Look forward to seeing the finished top. How do you manage to fit so much in around the studying and working?
