Alexander McQueen Kimono Jacket!

March 04, 2007

Here as promised as some photos of the kimono jacket! It was a blast to make, now I want to try sewing tricky, individual clothes ALL THE TIME! Mine isn't exactly the same as the model one, because firstly the instructions were very handy but not 100% comprehensive (I think a certain amount of sewing knowledge is assumed, which I probably fell a touch short on), and also because If I had folded mine as tight as the model one, it wouldn't have fitted! But that aside I'm super pleased with it. On the jacket's own page I have put lots more info in case anyone wants to make it themselves and could do with some tips.

Here's the front:

And here's the back, in all it's pleated and complicated glory:

And if you click here, you can see more bigger photos, and read more info!

Inspiring! It's very modern, love it. Also--I feel compelled to comment on your jeans--are they new? They're awesome!

Wow! I am in awe of your sewing skills! I always thought that pattern looked gorgeous, but seeing it in real life on someone makes all the difference.

I'm completely impressed by your kimono jacket. Sewing is something I want to move into next, maybe when my husband is next away. I just saw a darth vader dress on another woman's blog. It was so cool, and I'm not particularly a star wars fan. She got the fabric in China... Finding good fabric would be part of the fun, I guess. Well done, your jacket looks great! P x x

That looks amazing! I printed out the pattern a week or so ago but I'm still totally intimidated by it. It's hugely helpful to see that a workable pattern can actually be made from that pile of paper.

The jacket looks great! You should be proud - the pattern looks tricky.
And thanks for the link to ShowStudio; I hadn't come across it.
