Nearly there!

April 24, 2007

Well, I'm finally back with knitting to show, and in the spirit of something Carolyn posted about a few days ago I refuse to apologise for my absence! Hooray! Ahem, here is what I have knitted:

This is the last piece of the Sublime sweater. I can't remember off hand whether it is the front or the back, although I have a suspicion it's the back, and will therefore take a teeny bit longer than the front. The point at which I took the photo (and I haven't done any since!) is when I finished the penultimate ball of yarn. Will there be enough left to finish? I know, the suspense is pretty amazing. Either way I'll probably take another few weeks to actually finish and by then you'll all have forgotten I was even knitting this jumper!

I also got some ribbon for this jumper - I've been knitting this since new year so its been a long time since I showed the original sketch, so here it is again:

I need ribbon to thread through eyelets all around the middle, but also to make little bows and sew them on the sleeves where the mohair joins the merino. I had to buy 2 widths, because I didn't know which would be best:

I have looked in lots of shops and couldn't find the inky blue ribbon I wanted, but I hope this shade will do.

So, last push on this jumper! Basically I've been scared I won't have enough yarn to finish which has been making me ignore the issue (and the jumper!), but I guess it's time to face up to it and just finish the thing.

I love the color -- and can't wait to see the finished sweater. Your work is alway so pretty and feminine, without being too floofy. What I particularly like, is your sweaters look fabulous with jeans -- they're very special, but not so over-the-top so as to be over-dressed.

Totally agree with dris! I really like your designs and wish I could come up with ideas like yours (but then I wouldn't be able to put them into practice anyway!). Sublime is looking, well.... sublime.

I've got my fingers crossed that you've got enough yarn. Great design. Can't wait to see the finished article.

The jumper is adorable and I for one am happy to see it return.

It must be harder for a British person to not apologize than it would be for say, Carolyn...just thinking.

Keep going with that jumper! I'm dying to see it finished. Also, I totally agree about the ribbon issue: why is it so difficult to find ribbon in the shades that you want?

I am loving the pattern! And, sad as this is to state, I now know that I will have to periodically check in to see what comes of the "enough yarn to finish or world's biggest swatch" issue...

:)

I agree with the majority of the comments (not the adult industry related ones, but the rest of them). Love the sweater, and the colour. The design is gorgeous and I am sure that it will be beautiful when it is all done.

Go! Go! Go! :) (Some inspiration, in case you need it)

Your sweater looks beautiful! Are you going to publish the pattern? I would definitely make it. I hope you have enough yarn!
