Wacko "fashionable" knitting, and more new yarn!
July 08, 2007
Firstly, thanks for your comments on the smokey/sublime sweater, I'm glad you like it. As to whether I'll get a pattern together....well I certainly intend to! But I'm scared to promise a date, because I will almost certainly not meet it and that would make me feel stressed! I'll keep you updated.
For a change, I have actually been doing a lot of knitting this last week. That's because it has rained here SO MUCH lately, and I didn't want to go running etc. I have been knitting on the stripy lollypop sweater, and it is so nearly complete I might well just wait and show it off finished, although that statement will probably jinx it now!
I do have some things to show though. I bought Vogue this week, which has all the a/w 07 stuff in it, and found some hilarious photos of what is supposedly trendy knitwear this winter. Remember when I made this Big Wool scarf? Someone said it looked like the scarf was going to eat me, and they were right, but check out this scarf:

It's gone mental! It's going to eat us all! And look at this one:

And check out this elegant, slinky little number:

At least I already have that Big Wool scarf, so I'm extremely trendy already!
I also went to Get Knitted this week, the only reason I hadn't been before was before I was confused about where Brislington was and I'm a nervous driver, but I drove past it every day on the way to a client's this week, so headed straight down there this weekend!
Here we can see the caterpillar, excitedly contemplating an extremely embryonic chocopillar:

Look out for that little cutie soon! Also I spent an absolute fortune on Blue Sky Alpaca yarn. I will make something secretly with it, but just wanted to show off the gorgeous colours:

I got 9 of the grey and just one of each of the greeny colours. It feel like a dream! I'm quite excited. Next time: Probably a finished Lollypop!

I wouldn't worry about not knowing where get knitted was. I actually live in bristol and had to get my dad to show me where it was. How sad :)

hmm. I kinda like the striped wrappy thing! And ooh I can just knit with my roving rather than spinning it! Woosh I just dodged that bullet!

Love the gorgeous new yarn! Get Knitted is the best wool shop in Bristol apart from the knitting section of John Lewis. I have to give myself a few hours if I'm going over there. I seem to go round and round about 10 times!!

I Love those big scarves! It's the only way to keep your neck warm enough in the harsh NY winters!!
Your scarf is gorgeous - I love the chunky fringy bits!
The catapillar is just too flippin' cute! Nice to know he'll have some playmates soon ;o)
The sweater in your last post is fab - you look so good in everything you create :o)

I adore the Smokey Subime sweater. It's fab! I don't think I'll be knitting any giant scarves in the near future. Fab pics!
