Some nice things
November 13, 2007
Firstly - hooray for exams being over. They were actually pretty horrid, but for now I've got my life back! Although at the same time I was taking my exams, Adam moved to Southampton for a job, which is pretty rubbish. We are going to meet up at weekends for now, but sometime in the next year we will hopefully buy a house and be living together again.
I bought yarn! And have in fact almost finished knitting Storm, Big Wool is good like that, for instant gratification:

It's all in one big piece! Now I just need to sew it together, knit edgings etc.
This is the armhole:

And here are the buttons - I think mine is exactly the same as the one in the book!

Also I bought the yarn for Calm:

I was not in favour of Kidsilk Aura at first, because the yardage is so crappy, but this jumper is knit at a loose gauge and so only needed 6 balls - not too bad.
Initially I wanted to knit this in the round, to avoid the seams showing up too much, as it is a sheer fabric. But I realised it would cost so much to get all the needles I would need I couldn't be bothered. Lets hope the seams don't bother me too much!

Congrats on completing your exams! Sorry to hear about Adam, weekends will be wonderful though! I love your cardi! I'm hoping the book becomes available in the US, shipping would be pricey if I ordered. So glad to see you post again! :o)

Well that sucks about Adam having to move for work. At least you have no more exams and are planning to buy a house, which is totally exciting! I'm also liking that Storm, quick and cute.

Hello Jen, nice to see you back in the land of the living. Your knitting looks lovely as ever, and seems to appear ready-formed! I'm a much slower knitter. My mittens have taken me weeks so far... My husband works away from home, sometimes for up to two months at a time. We text and MSN a lot, and I REALLY miss him, but the upside is I get SO MUCH done! Knitting, sewing, period drama-watching. Look forward to seeing the Kidsilk Aura garment. P x x

You should try Denise Interchangable needles. I got my set for like $40 bucks and I love it! Can't wait to see storm finished.

That sweater is so beautiful! How long did it take you to make it? I would love to make something like that but I get intimidated by the multiple pieces.

Well done on finishing the exams. I'm sure you will be OK. I like the Kim Hargreaves book, too. Her designs are so elegant.

Beautiful sweater, how do you find the time studying accounting to knit, my boyfriend is also studying accounting and I am beginning to think his instructors hold him hostage at exam time because he is so hard to find. I am anxious to try some of your patterns, they really are gorgeous. I will have to send pics when I finish a sweater!
