The chickens are here!
July 13, 2009
Nothing to do with crafts, but some very big news for us! 3 months ago we ordered an eglu and 2 chickens, and this weekend they arrived!
Here is their house:
We bought the whole package from Omlet, and this weekend a man came to set it all up and give us chicken tips! They offer 2 breeds of chicken, and we ordered one of each (so we can tell them apart!), this is the Gingernut Ranger, who Adam has named Georgina:
She will sit on our laps and go to sleep!
And this is the Miss Pepperpot chicken, called Margot:
She is really lively, and we discovered quite a jumper! Also she is the noisiest out of the two.
Sweet little hens having a sit down in the conservatory:
So far we LOVE them! I can't wait until they start laying eggs! That should be in about a month.
Maybe I'll show some knitting soon?!

Who needs knitting when you have hens? :)

Margot is such a cute name for a chicken. I long for chickens too. I sewed a chicken tea cosy to make up for having no chickens. Maybe next year...

Ooh lovely!! I am desperate for some hens too, but having to wait. Omlet have the best houses for hens, don't they? So easy to clean!
I just stumbled upon your blog and it's so nice! Come on over and visit mine someday for a cup of tea! :)
love, Tina xx

How fun, I've always wanted to be able to have some chickens! The little house looks nice.

Very cool, we aren't allowed to have livestock here, I remember how sad my best friend was when we were little & she had to give up a hen she'd raised from a chick (we hatched them at school).
