Comments: Kimono Style Waistcoat
This makes me drool. I also love to look at Rowan and dream.

Oh, I'm intrigued by both the pattern and the yarn. I always like cardigan-vest-waistcoat thingies, but I'm never sure I would actually wear one. Might have to rethink...
I like the yarn a lot. I was going to buy some Scottish Tweed with my Christmas money but they were sold out of the colour I wanted and I got something else in the sales instead. Have you tried Drops Design's Alaska? It's aran weight, but softer than the Scottish Tweed. I just tried the light gray and it's pretty nice.
Too bad the Scottish Tweed isn't rocking your world, because that sweater is adorable! I hope you keep on with this one since it's so cute.
Posted by sil.I love that waistcoat :) What did you think of Rowan 43 though? On my first proper look through I wasn't all that impressed :( I only fancy making one plain cardi from it really. The rest of it looked either to old (particularly the lace things, and I love lace) or too dull. Hmmm. Maybe it will improve with viewing/seeing stuff on other people...
Posted by Bryony.Yeah, I'm not into Rowan 43. There is some weird, ugly stuff in there that I would never knit. A lot of the photos look like repeats from the Kidsilk Dream book - I'm just so underwhelmed with the whole thing.
Posted by theLady.Wow - knitting that kimono in Scottish tweed - respect! I LOVE it to look at but once tried making a pair of sleeves from a Rowan mag from a couple of years ago. It was 4-ply, and I didn't get very far before returning the wool to John Lewis to buy something much softer, and bigger, to work with. I found it stuck on my needles and I was constantly pulling and pushing it. But your Scottish Tweed looks bigger than 4-ply so hopefully you'll have more luck, and it'll knit up more quickly. And, like I said, it does look gorgeous. Good luck. Polly x x x
