| 22-12-04 Hello all! I'm back at my parents now, relaxing a lot and enjoying feeling festive. I have done some more Christmas knitting, and lots of crafty things. I would love to share them all, but I think the update I'm making today will take long enough to upload as it is, so just 2 crafty things today. Firstly, I have been beading as well as knitting, and if you click here you can see some lovely beaded Christmas tree decorations that I made yesterday. I love beading - so much quicker than knitting! I made those 3 decorations in an afternoon, and they were quite fiddly. Also, I have finally finished Karis! I have an absolute ton of photos of her to share - click on the photo below to have a peek at them! I'm very pleased with her - and so glad she's done in time for Christmas! I will hopefully update again after Christmas, but I haven't been online much this last week so I doubt I will be over Christmas - so Happy Christmas! I hope you all have a lovely one :)
15-12-04 I have been away for ages! I was either knitting secret stuff or not knitting at all, so you haven't missed out :) I have put up a new page - patterns to buy! I will be putting up one more in the new year - I'm test-knitting it over Christmas. I'm kind of excited to see if it works, and if anyone buys any! I am the least technical person in the world, so if you try to buy one and it fails miserably please let me know - there might be some small important thing I've missed in setting this up. I'm no further along on Karis, but one day soon! I'm going back to my parents very soon (slooow internet) so I expect there will be about a billion photos and things to show in the new year. Anyway, check out my patterns!
07-12-04 I have now finished my Dad's Christmas present (photos at the bottom of this post), so I'm working on Karis again, and I'm now so close to finishing! I'm still doing the knitting, but next time I hope to have a blocking photo to show. Here she is, with 39 of the 50 edging repeats done:
I couldn't fit her all on the table! I can't wait to block her! And now for Dad's scarf - I don't know why I persist in keeping these photos off the main page, since he will look anyway, even though I said not to. But I don't think he reads this at all, I hope not anyway! Click here to see the scarf. Other exciting things next time! (I hope).
02-12-04 Gosh, two posts in two days! I can't remember that ever happening before. I finished my skirt that I mentioned yesterday - it took two evenings and is the first thing (apart from drawstring skirts) that I've made without a pattern: If you click on the photo, you can see bigger pictures and TOTALLY comprehensive instructions on how to make one of your own, if you feel so inclined! I wanted to document exactly how I made it in case I forgot, so I thought it would be nice to share with all of you at the same time :) I also finished my sock swap socks, and still have a week to send them in order for them to be there by Christmas. I am posting a photo of them, but if you are doing the Fong/Strug Sock Swap then please don't look! OK that said, they are over here. I will put up a picture of the ones I receive after Christmas as well!
01-12-04 I'm afraid today's is a pictureless post.....never mind! Thanks for all the comments on Nimbus, I'm glad you like her! On Monday I went to London for the day, to get fabric. In the summer I made shorts for Adam's birthday, and he liked them and wore them lots, so for Christmas he asked me to make cord trousers based on the same pattern. It's impossible to find decent fabric in Oxford, so I went to Soho in London and had a look around. I did more sewing before I got really into knitting, but I stopped as I never saw any inspiring fabric, but there was such gorgeous stuff in the shops there! I bought the perfect cord for Adam, and materials to make a skirt for me, which I have half finished, and hopefully I will show that next time too. I will make a sewing page over Christmas I think :) In current projects summary, I am nearly finished with the sock-swap socks, and a bloody good thing too, since I'm sending them to someone in the US and really don't want them to be late! I have neglected Karis in favour of those and my Dad's scarf, which is now nearly finished too - hopefully pictures of them next time. I have been totally neglecting the Secret Project with Carolyn - I am using 2.25mm needles(!) and they got really bent in my bag when I was taking the project to work for lunchtime knitting, but now I have new needles, and I really hope to see it finished by Christmas. Right - photos next time!
