Knitting - June 2004 back to knitting blog |

30-06-04 Sorry about the massive break since the last entry - I've been knitting a lot, but have now finished the secret knitting, so there should be lots more posts and things to show from now on. The next finished project should be the R2 hoodie - here are the sleeves:
I will get started on the front today, so not long to go on this one! I know I have a zillion other things on the go, but I am starting a new project as well, along with Carolyn. This is kind of more secret knitting, because we're not going to tell you what it is until we've finished! So no guessing! But we agreed to show little progress shots as we go, so here is my yarn, and beads I am using strung on it:
That's all for now!
21-06-04 I have mostly been doing secret knitting recently, but just so I would have something to show (not because I'm useless at focusing on 1 project or anything), I started knitting with the R2 paper yarn:
That is the back of a hoodie I'm making with the yarn. I am finding it very quick to knit up - I also started a sleeve. I think the back probably took just a few hours, maybe 3 hours? Super speedy knitting anyway! The fabric it makes is a bit see-through and quite light, so I will probably have to wear something underneath, but it should be perfect for wearing on summer evenings. I like the yarn, it's soft and a bit different. My grandparents and auntie and uncle came to visit this weekend, which was lovely, and my grandma brought her old button box for me. It has lots of lovely vintage buttons and buckles in and I thought as fellow crafty people you might like to see it, it's here. Enjoy!
16-06-04 Here's the finished bucket hat! Click for more, bigger pictures. I love it, I think the pattern (chicknits bottoms up bucket hat) is well written, easy and quick. I put some details on the hat's official page (click the photo above) about how I adapted the pattern for Rowan Denim, which shrinks. Now I'm working on a Magknits project, and I have a million and one other projects on the go - I need to finish them up so I can start more new stuff! I am working on a redesign for this site, which is taking me FOREVER - that's why it took so long to put the hat pictures up. I wanted to do a big fab new design, but I kind of like the page the way it is....what do you think?
11-06-04 Hello, I'm back! Thanks for all the good luck wishes - the exams went OK as far as I can tell, and I will know for sure in a couple of weeks - scary! Even though they finished on Tuesday I have been hanging out with my chemistry friends and celebrating, so I only just got a chance to update. I have done quite a bit of knitting since I finished, but only on a secret Magknits project, which I can't show you, but not to worry, I have lots of other pictures. I went to meet Carolyn while she was in London:
She was just as fun as I thought she would be :) I also met a lady called Michelle who had a gorgeous Giotto top, but I don't know her email, so I don't want to put a picture of her on here without asking! We went to Liberty and John Lewis, and bought some stuff. I got some R2 paper yarn to make an adapted sweater from the R2 magazine - I was reading Jenn's blog and saw she was planning on making the same thing, hooray, great minds think alike! We're going to make the normal sweater (called Flush in the magazine), and add a hood, like in the "Shaggy" and "Sweet" patterns. So I have 6 balls of Pinkish paper, and one ball of white:
I also got some other super-secret yarn (it's all about secret knitting right now!), which I'll tell about some other time. Carolyn also bought me birthday yarn! My stash is now getting a little out of hand, it's a good job I now have nothing to do but knit! Here's all the balls, but there's a close-up of one ball in the Stash gallery:
It's Phildar Eponge - and it's more purpley in real life. I have finished my bottoms up bucket hat, and I will be back tomorrow with photos of that.
