31-05-03 I've begun Smooch, and it really is a very quick knit - even for me! I'm loving it - the edging is so pretty, and I really like the feel of the all seasons cotton. I'm already up to the armhole shaping on the back! I've put a couple of photos of it in the current projects section, but at this rate it's not going to be there for long! When I've finished this, I think I'm going to get my crochet hook out and go back to Bonbon, but it's so hard not to start loads of new projects, seeing everyone else's gorgeous stuff has inspired me! But I've spent all my birthday money and now have to save - ah well. Hope all you UK folk are out enjoying this beautiful weather - have a great weekend!
29-05-03 The All Seasons Cotton for Smooch came this morning! I'm so excited, probably because the shade is called Kiss, which I think is perfect for a Smooch top, and I've eaten chocolate spread straight from the jar, and gone slightly hyperactive. Also - finished the socks last night!! I will put pictures up later. Starting Smooch tonight or tomorrow!
28-05-03 Hello - just a little knitting update. I'm waiting impatiently for the All Season Cotton for Smooch to arrive, and also trying to finish the Opal socks before it does. I'm onto the foot now, I reckon I'll get them done in my free time between now and the ASC's arrival! I ordered a Colinette shade card, which is in fact nothing like a shade card - it is like four separate multicoloured wigs, and I'm staring at it lustfully! I can't wait for winter so I can make big warm colourful jumpers. My flatmate Jen is also very taken with it, so I'm going to get her making a scarf out of Point 5. It's amazing wool - thanks for telling me about it Emma! Look - a real comments thingie, I hope it works!
26-05-03 I've done barely any knitting at all, I've had lots of nasty chemistry to work at - all I've managed to do is the heel on the second sock! I went into the centre of Oxford today to try and get All Seasons Cotton for Smooch, but the shop was literally out of stock of everything, so I stomped home and ordered if off the internet. I decided to make it in a dark pink shade which is called Kiss!! Haha very appropriate I thought! I hope it comes superduper quickly, I want to get started now, as others have, and I'm a bit of a slow knitter. 25-05-03 Just got back from my parents, which was nice. Dad hasn't unpacked his camera yet, so I took some pictures of Dot with Adam's little camera. They are now added under finished projects! I just realised that we can start the Smooch tank whenever, so I think I'm going to get some supplies for it tomorrow or very soon. I'm really looking forward to starting it - I haven't knitted anything with All Seasons Cotton before, so I'm hoping I can find a colour I like so I can try it. Is everyone else starting soon? Thanks to everyone who has come to say hello and linked me and things - you've all made me feel very welcome! 23-05-03 Last night I finished Dot!! I'm going to visit my parents in their new house this weekend, and my dad has a posh digital camera so I'll put some pictures on here when I get back on Sunday. I'm very pleased with the way it's turned out - especially the picot neck edging. I wore it to lectures this morning to show it off, but in their bleary eyed state no one noticed! Also, I'm joining in on the Smooch Knit-Along. I wanted to make this top anyway, but it will be SO much more fun if I'm making it with other people too! 19-05-03 Just bought Vogue Knitting Socks Two, so I can make better fitting socks. The pink ones are going to be perfect for slippers, but they are a bit big. Aaaaah but this book is so cool - it has a pattern for penguin slipper socks - they are gorgeous! I'm almost done now on the second half of the back of Dot, so hopefully it will be complete soon. I think everyone is going to get socks for christmas this year! 18-05-03 I had an amazing time yesterday, I bought tons of wikid stuff! I was just walking around and thinking what to get, when I saw this jumper that had been knitting up on display - it was SO nice, and the yarn it was done in was lovely - so soft. So I asked the assistant where it was from - its the cable jacket with a hood from Debbie Bliss no. 4, in cashmerino aran. I thought about it for a bit, cos with that wool it costs £60, and you need a zip and the pattern, but in the end I just decided to get it anyway! It was birthday money after all! The yarn I bought is a gorgeous dark plummy colour. Can't wait to make it, but I have to finish all this other stuff first! Oh well. I'll stick some photos up when I have the right light to take decent ones. Got some other little things as well - some cute buttons and iron-on patches. Happy sigh. 15-05-03 I just finished the first sock! I put pictures on the current projects page. It seems to fit OK, but not brilliantly, I will probably just use it to hang around the flat in. I love the way the wool looks though. I have to do the second one now..... I'm hoping to go to London this weekend to spend birthday money on yarn, even though I'm knitting 3 projects at once already..hmm. Ah well its all good! 09-05-03 Its my birthday today! I'm 20. Also my sock wool arrived this morning - I ordered 2 balls of Opal to knit my first socks! One is pink, red, purple and dark brown, the other is turquoise with occasional strands of red and yellow. I will add photos to current projects tomorrow. Bye! 06-05-03 Still sorting it all out, I'm still have lots and lots of things to add here. Been busy with chemistry, so only done a tiny bit of knitting - done a row of spots on the second half of the back. 01-05-03 The first entry here...on a knitting topic, I last night finished one half of the back of Dot, looking all good. I'm going to be adding lots of photos very soon, especially of finished projects. Tarra.
