31-05-04 Hello! Seriously little knitting going on here. I've been in the library every day all day, and my exams start on Thursday. I have 2 a day everyday until Tuesday the 8th June, so I will be back sometime very soon after that with things to show and talk about. I finished the bucket hat, but I haven't got the energy to take pictures of it yet! After my exams I promise. See you soon!
21-05-04 It's been a long time since I updated, but I didn't have anything to show. Not that I do now.....well only something small. I have finally started the Bottoms Up Bucket hat!
I think I am about half way finished. This is all I have knitted in the past week, I think I have averaged at about 15 minutes knitting a day - but not for long! In 2 1/2 weeks I will be averaging 8 hours a day, and I really can't wait. I will just echo everyone else and say ouch, didn't like the brim. My hand really did ache after just knitting a few rows. But now it genuinely is "flying off the needles"! :) Even though I didn't enjoy knitting with 2 strands of yarn on small needles, it has made a very stiff brim, which is great. I'm using Rowan Denim in Nashville (darkest blue) and making a large. I suppose I have a big head - I didn't realise! Anyway, back to work, maybe there will be a finished bucket in another week.
13-05-04 Thank you all very much for the birthday wishes :) I had a lovely day. Today's post is mostly about things I've acquired, since I've been too busy to knit much. I got my copy of Denim People today, which is fab, there are three things in it that I seriously want to make. I will hopefully get to those over the summer sometime. I really like the designs with bits of denim jeans sewed onto them, I'm sure I've got an old pair somewhere I can chop up and use! Or maybe just make denim strips myself, without cutting any trousers up. Kerrie sent me a lovely birthday present! 2 balls of Phildar Copacabana in Mangue - my first Phildar yarn! Have a look at it here. I am planning to make a very small summer tank out of it. Hopefully there will be enough - I did some googling and found out that the largest size of the tiny tank that several bloggers made last year takes 3 balls, so I reckon I'll get away with it. Thanks so much Kerrie :) I have also found the perfect ornament for my Sophie: I noticed lots of people have lovely knitted or crocheted flowers on their Sophies, and wanted one myself. My lovely friend Jess gave me this flower pin as part of my birthday present and I realised it would be perfect. If you click on the picture and scroll down there is another photo showing the position on the bag. Also, when I've had a few moments to knit, I've been working on my Giotto tank, as it is in a large gauge and so makes me think I've done more than I have! I have finally taken a picture so you can see the stitch and really bright colour, and that's here. OK I'm done linking to pictures! As you can see it's not long to my exams now, and I promise lots of real knitting progress as soon as they're over.
09-05-04 It's my birthday! Click on the cake for more pictures and to read about my birthday. But I know you really come here for knitting! Yesterday I got my copy of R2. (I realised Rowan should pay me for all the promoting I'm doing of this new project!) It's interesting, the patterns are written like recipes, and are quite flung together and different. I will be trying some things in it I'm sure, although maybe not the mini!! I don't know though, when you've been dared it's hard to say no. The stuff looks mostly very quick to make, and I really like trying new yarns, so I will most likely make something small soon. The only thing I've been knitting recently is the Giotto top, but hopefully I'll have something to show soon.
04-05-04 I have sorted my accommodation problems out hooray! That's one less thing to worry about. The college ball was really fab, it didn't rain (magically) and I had a great time, lots of drinking, eating and dancing. I also had my palm read and got a henna tattoo, which was fun. We didn't get to bed until 5, and the evening went really quickly. I don't have any photos! I'm sorry. I hope to have some soon - I took them on a normal camera and only used half a film. I'm trying to chase down some digital ones that other people took. But I can tell you Charlotte really enjoyed the party :) I don't have any photos at all in fact, as Adam has gone away for a few days so I can't borrow his camera. But so soon I will have my own digital camera!!! My parents are getting me one for my birthday, woohoo! Only a few days, I'm very much looking forward to it. I have done a bit of knitting, mostly on the Giotto summer top, and I promise I'll show photos as soon as Adam returns. The new R2 yarns are available at English Yarns, and look really exciting. I can't be bothered to link to them all, so just go and have a look around. I really like the look of the "paper" yarn. You can now order the R2 magazine from the Rowan website here. I ordered one, but it hasn't come yet. I've been reading lots of very mixed reviews on this new Rowan project, all I think is it's fun! And interesting to look at even if you have no intention of making any of the stuff. Which I certainly do, haha, just wait til you see my new puffy mini (just kidding!).
