| 26-11-04 Well, that took a bit longer than I thought, and I still don't have photos of the skirt! I promise there will be photos of it soon, I just need to find an opportunity and get someone to take them. I can't show the other surprise thingie either, just because, but sometime soon I will show that as well. I'm really pleased to be able to finally show this off - it's a fluffy jacket I designed for Magknits, and was in one of the newsletters which has been sent out now Kerrie is back online! It's made from Rowan Polar and Big Wool Tuft, and is my favourite thing I have designed to date. I don't think the newsletters are on the Magknits site yet, but I really wanted to put this up, as I'm going to be busy now until Tuesday and I didn't want to wait until then! Anyway, click on the photo to see more :) Next - finally, here are my legwarmers! Click for bigger pictures and instructions on how I made them (I'm pleased with them). Also I started Dad's Christmas present. I'm pretty certain he doesn't read my blog, only my mum does, but I'm not going to show it on the main page just in case. Click here to have a look. In other knitting news I have done a few more repeats on Karis and a quarter of the second sock for the sock swap, but that's all there is to look at today!
23-11-04 Hello everyone! From not having much to show apart from inch by inch progress on Karis, I now have loads to show. I went to stay with Kerrie and go shopping at the weekend - it was ace fun, when we weren't shopping we were knitting, talking about knitting, or looking at knitting - fantastic! Of course I got to meet the lovely Cameron as well, he is adorable. Here's me and Kerrie knitting:
Wayne took two pictures of us, one was bad of me and the other was bad of Kerrie, so I did the noble thing and put the good one of Kerrie on here! I bought yarn for three projects....this can all be seen as bigger photos in the Stash. Firstly I bought 3 balls of Chunky Print to make my Dad a Christmas scarf - I've knitted mum 2 things and none for him, so I don't want him to feel left out!
Next I bought 2 balls of Yorkshire Tweed, and 2 balls of Kidsilk Haze for a project, it's one I'm going to design and I will probably start it soon after I've finished other things I have on the go:
The third thing I bought was the yarn for the R2 skirt! We were looking at the R2 yarns and as soon as we touched the Braid we both HAD to make something from it - so instead of threading fabric through the eyelets in my skirt, I decided to thread Braid though them instead. The skirt was a really quick knit, and I have already finished it - I will put photos of it modelled up really soon, along with some information, but for now click on the picture below to see bigger pictures: OK I still have lots to show but have run out of time! Come back very soon (1 or 2 days) to see photos of the skirt modelled, my finished legwarmers, and something very exciting that this lovely lady gave to me! Bye for now.
18-11-04 Greetings all! I have had a busy couple of days....mostly on Tuesday when I went to my friend Stuart's for dinner and had the most amazing veggie sausages the World has ever seen! But I got some knitting done yesterday, and so I am now a third of the way through Karis's edging (I've done 17 repeats of 50). Here she is:
I can't wait to block her and wear her - I definitely want to wear her on Christmas day :) I'm sure she will be done by then (although I have plenty of things to make for other people for Christmas). I also got my copy of the new R2 in the post yesterday. I like it, but not as much as I liked the first one - I think that's mainly because of the colours the new yarns are available in....I don't dislike the colours, it's just I know I would look sick in most of them! I really like the skirt pattern though - the one with fabric through the lacey holes. Click here and scroll down to the picture called Lame (trimmed and fringed version). I know it's a bit wacky but I'm really drawn to it! I'm going to see Kerrie this weekend, to go shopping - I seriously can't wait - I haven't seen her for ages, or met Cameron before! So exciting!
16-11-04 I saw my mum at the weekend and gave her the bag - I think she liked it! It is lined, but I forgot to take a picture of it before I gave it away, so I'll try and get one when I see her again in 2 weeks. Now I think I'll make a similar bag for myself from the Colinette Skye in my stash! I made up the pattern for the bag, I'll put it up after I've made mine to check the pattern (it's just notes I wrote as I made the first one at the moment). I also finished the first sock for the sock swap over the weekend, and finished the main body of Karis:
I'm not sure if you can see much difference from the last photo! But the rows were so long at the end, so they took ages. I've started the edging now - I've done 5 out of 50 edging repeats. But don't expect to see her finished soon, I think it's going to take a while to get all the edging done.
10-11-04 Yesterday morning I finished my mum's birthday present - click here to take a look (BUT NOT MUM!). I'm very pleased with it, I hope she is as well. This is going to be a teeny post as I don't have any pictures to show (apart from the ones of mum's present), but I'll tell you what else I've been doing. I've done nothing on Karis as I've been concentrating on the present, but I have almost finished the first sock for the sock swap. Isn't it rubbish, I can't show pictures of that either! I also updated my stash page as it was a bit inaccurate - you can see it by clicking the link over to the right -----> I love looking at other people's stashes! Going through it reminded me of my trip to the Colinette shop last Christmas, and I would really love to go again this year. I don't think I can though, as the shop closes for Christmas before my lab does. Oh well another time maybe! Right, back to work, I'll be back soon with pictures and things to show!
05-11-04 I thought it might be nice to show just one of my secret projects (but you can only click to see it if you're NOT MY MUM!). I'm making her something for her birthday (which was in fact yesterday) but I'm not seeing her for a couple of weeks so I've got plenty of time to finish it. So, click here if you fancy a peek! I know my mum reads this blog, so here's a picture even she can look at - Karis after another 2 days work:
I am now into the second ball. I can't see how this is going to take much of the third ball - I must be way more than 1/3 done. But that's OK, I was thinking of using an oddment of Kidsilk Haze to decorate something else, so it might save me buying another ball. On the last row I worked using the first ball, I discovered a knot inches from my needles just as I had passed the halfway point on the row - rubbish! I had to rip it all back and I think this minor task took about half an hour! Mohair really doesn't want to be ripped!
02-11-04 I've been plodding along as usual. I am knitting 3 secret things, which take time but are completely boring as I can't show them! First up is my project with Carolyn (the beaded one) which has been abandoned just this week, my socks for the swap (past the heel on one) and my project for mum (going along very nicely). Hopefully to make up for all that, here's a photo of Karis after another weeks work:
Haha you can see my Buffy mouse mat in so many of my photos, and I don't like Buffy at all, they just gave it to me for free when I got my laptop :) Karis is probably a third done, as the first of three balls is almost finished. But she is well over half way in terms of how many rows I've done - the rows are getting longer and longer and longer....... As for the legwarmers, I have finished one of them, so seriously there will be pictures of them sometime soon! When they are finished I'm allowed to start something new! Hooray! (I don't have a set rule for this sort of thing, but right now there's so much on the go it's a disgrace!).
