Bucket Hat

Here's my bottoms up bucket hat! The pattern can be bought here.

I used Rowan Denim, in Nashville, which shrinks in length when washed. The unwashed tension matched the pattern (20 x 28) but the washed tension is 20 x 32, and so I adapted the pattern a little:

On the mid-section I added a few extra rounds - I worked out how many rounds would be needed to make it a certain measurement if the tension was 32 rows to 10cm, and then just worked that amount of rounds. I also added 3 rounds to the crown - that was for a large, but it's easy to work out how many you should add for the other sizes. I took the number of rounds in the crown for my size, and worked out how many cm that was for a tension of 28 rows to 10cm, and then how many rounds that would be for a tension of 32 rows to 10cm. I turned out I needed 3 extra rounds to make the crown the same size as the pattern after I'd washed the hat, and I just added these rounds in between the decrease rounds.
